6 things you can't forget when traveling

Now that life is getting back to normal, we can travel again and discover new places or even return to some special place. Whether far away or close to home, in our country or abroad, travelling is becoming easier and easier. Being a tourist means interacting with other cultures, boosting local economies and growing with the experiences you've lived.

It was precisely to raise awareness about the role of tourism in the international community that the World Tourism Organization made 27 September the World Tourism Day. First celebrated in 1980, the day is regarded as an especially important milestone this year, given the impact of covid-19 on the sector. With the national theme 'Tourism for inclusive growth', we celebrate this day with a list of six essentials you can't forget the next time you take a trip.

There are obvious things you have to take with you on any trip: clothes, money, hygiene products, identification documents... In this list, we will only mention accessories/objects that go inside your backpack and that we consider indispensable. Curious to know them? Let's go!

A wallet and a notepad

Obviously, if there's one thing that can't be left behind, it's your wallet. There is no need for you to carry all the cards and papers that you usually have in your wallet and in your everyday purse. However, there are identification documents that are required at all times. Why not have a special wallet for travelling, where you only carry what you need and it doesn't take up too much space? The Secrid's wallets are the ideal solution, due to their minimalist design and RFID-NFC protection.

In addition, the notepad serves many different purposes. Are you someone who likes to draw while on holiday? Do you like to stop at beautiful places and capture their beauty, be it through drawings or words? You never know where inspiration might strike. Or, on the other hand, you might be a very pragmatic person who likes to make lists of places to visit or write down addresses on paper? A Moleskine notepad might be the most practical solution. Besides, you should have your most important phone numbers written down somewhere, in case your mobile phone runs out of battery. One can never be too careful.

A book and a tracker

Taking a book with you when you go travelling is a requirement for many people. Enjoying a quiet moment and get relaxed with a good book is among the most pleasurable things. With undeniable benefits, reading a book exercises your memory, expands your vocabulary, reduces stress and helps develop your thinking. There are so many different books and you just need to find the one that suits your tastes. Taschen has a wide variety of subjects.

The fourth item on the list may seem odd, but it is actually very clever and essential. Orbitkey, in addition to have minimalist keyrings for your keys, also has a locator that you can keep with your keys or inside your backpack. Imagine you forget your backpack somewhere or you happen to get robbed? This tracker will help you recover your things more quickly. This way, you'll be allowed to explore much more relaxed during your travels.

An umbrella and a camera

We've named this as an umbrella, but it could also be a hat or a beanie. It will depend on your destination. However, the usefulness of any of these objects is undeniable. If you look closely, a hat protects you from the sun, but it also protects you from the rain and the same goes for the umbrella. Furthermore, any of these three accessories will make an interesting prop and bring dynamism to your travel photos.

And since we're on the subject of photos, we couldn't end this list without mentioning a camera. I don't think anyone goes anywhere without a camera, even if it's the one on their mobile phone. You can bet on a digital camera or you can go down a more analogue way and choose a Fujifilm Instax. There are several models and options and the best one is the one you simply prefer the most.

It is certain that World Tourism Day is only tomorrow, but we'll take advantage of the excuse and celebrate it  today. Let the tourism world take hold of you, go through our website and find everything you need.
