Playlist: Millennial Men

October's playlist arrives earlier than usual thanks to World Music Day. Celebrated on 1 October, this day celebrates the art of music across the globe and in all its strands and forms. Be it pop, rock, blues, metal... there are so many genres and they all deserve to be celebrated. All over the country, there are usually several concerts you can attend and radios give extra prominence to music. Around here, we decided to bring you another playlist, this time with four millennial men, who you must surely already know.

The millennial generation or generation Y refers to people born between 1981 and 1996. Very marked by technological advances, this generation emerged in a phase of economic prosperity and urbanization of cities. Within this reality were born Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles, the four men we're going to tell you about today.

Let's start with the oldest. Peter Gene Hernandez, better known as Bruno Mars, was born on October 8, 1985 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Today, he is known as a singer, songwriter, music producer, dancer and multi-instrumentalist. All in all, an accomplished artist, known to all, who took his first steps into the world of music during his childhood.

Bruno Mars' career took off in 2010, when he released his debut album Doo-wops & Hooligans, which had songs like 'Just the way you are' and 'The lazy song'. Six years later, the third album was released, the very one we're going to show you today. We speak of course of 24k Magic. With a range of different styles within one album, you'll be able to find 'Versace on the Floor', 'Finesse' and '24k Magic'. It's a collection full of style and lots of funk that will take you on a nostalgic trip through the school dances that the singer went to in the 90s.

From Bruno Mars we go to The Weeknd. Actually, the singer's name is Abel MakkonenTesfaye and he was born on 16 February 1990, in Canada. Considered responsible for the expansion of R&B, due to his experiments with indie and electronic music, The Weeknd is a singer, songwriter, music producer and actor.

Of Ethiopian descent, the singer adopted his stage name at the age of 17. He left home for a 'weekend' and never returned. His life has been full of ups and downs, having had problems with drugs, but The Weeknd began his career in 2010. First with mixtapes and later with his first album in 2013. Last year, the artist released After Hours, his fourth studio album, which was dedicated to a fan who passed away days before the release. On this album you'll find The Weeknd at his best with a film-inspired psychedelic aesthetic and a mix of sadism, sensuality, masochism, love disappointment, ambition and generosity.

From a broken heart we head towards an incurable romantic. Edward Christopher Sheeran was born in Halifax, UK on February 17, 1991. Ed Sheeran started his career a little earlier than the rest of the artists on this list. In 2005 he released his debut independent EP The Orange Room, by 2010 he was already a YouTube star and in 2011 he made his first studio album.

With many positive reviews, the artist's second album was released in June 2014 under the name X. The record we bring you today is a single from this album with 'Thinking out loud' on the a-side and 'I'm a Mess' on the b-side. Travel back to the beginnings of vinyl history with a minimalist record that brings you the best of Ed Sheeran.

Our final millenialmen is Harry Edward Styles. He was born on February 1, 1994 in Redditch, UK. His music career began in 2010 with his participation on the show The X Factor. He did not pass as a solo contestant, but was paired with four other young men, thus forming One Direction.

After a stint with One Direction, one of the most famous boybands of recent times, Harry Styles went solo. Fine Line is the second album of this solo path. It was, at the same time, the first album where the image of the artist was able to distance itself from the one he had formed in his former band.

The 2019 album shows a Harry Styles who meets someone, falls in love and is alone, in a mix of melancholy, abyss, romance and freedom. It's an amalgamation of pop rock, progressive pop, psychedelic pop, folk, soul, funk and indie pop. Basically, a record full of layers to deconstruct and observe the singer's evolution.

Regardless of the musical style you like, the type of listener you are, music is an art form that transforms millions of people. Unite with others through sound and celebrate World Music Day in style. Stop by our website and discover all the Crosley vinyls and players we have for you.
