She was influential in the fashion world. She wore a beehive, a 50s and 60s hairstyle that resembles a beehive, strong Cleopatra-style eyeliner and a piercing on top of her left-side lip, mimicking Marilyn Monroe's beauty mark. She had thirteen tattoos and was inspired by pin-ups. A combination of styles that would be considered more common had it not been made by someone who lived from the 80s onwards.

Amy Winehouse was born on 14th September 1983 in London. She was, from an early age, connected to the world of music and at the age of 15 she was already performing. Five years later, she would start a revolution in soul music at the turn of the millennium with the album Frank. Released in 2003, the album is about the singer's love life and family problems. However, Amy Winehouse would only see the international spotlight three years later.

The singer moved to Camden in 2005 and met Blake Fielder-Civil in one of the pubs she used to go to. After the death of her grandmother and an affair with Fielder-Civil, who at the time was engaged and chose his girlfriend over the singer, Amy Winehouse sought comfort in drugs and alcohol. From there, the second album, Back to Black, was born. It was with this album that the singer won public and critical acclaim, boosted by the hit 'Rehab'. Back to Black was influenced by 60s soul music and R&B.

In 2010, the public had access to Amy Winehouse's first collection with Fred Perry. Fifteen garments were produced that perfectly combined the brand's vintage style with 50s culture and Amy herself. Through her clothes, the singer marked her feminist stance, broke stereotypes and, despite having a style from the past, inspired the future generation. Amy Winehouse made history by being the first person to collaborate with the brand, and a second collection was scheduled for the following season, but Amy would not make it to that date alive.

The singer was found lifeless at home due to alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011. She was quite debilitated due to her struggle with depression, anxiety, bulimia and anorexia. Despite what happened, Fred Perry, together with the artist's family, decided to launch the collection anyway, donating all the profits to the recently founded Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Now, ten years later, another collection inspired by the original designs left by Amy Winehouse has just arrived, with Hawaiian patterns. Also, as a tribute to the artist, Fred Perry has an exhibition in its Camden shop, where it is possible to see the singer's first designs and sketches. Proceeds from the collection continue to be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity that helps young people overcome drug and alcohol addiction.

Amy Winehouse's story has inspired several films and we have available on our website the vinyl soundtrack of the biographyAmy, by Asif Kapadia. The documentary talks about several episodes of the singer's life, from her drug problems and pressure from the press until her death. Amy Winehouse died at 27, thus joining the famous "27 club", which was created due to the significant number of famous musicians who died at that age, such as Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones and Janis Joplin.

Tattoo artist Henry Hate in 2016 told Fred Perry that "people who have a tattoo of a bird, it's either one of two things: they're either well-travelled or they're a free spirit. Amy was both." Enjoy Amy Winehouse's irreverence and challenge the standards imposed by society while wearing Fred Perry's new blouse and listening to the singer on soundtrack.
